Endgrain Lamp
Sixteen years ago, this lamp was the subject of
an article for Fine Woodworking magazine and proved to be one of my most
difficult projects. Each arm comprises nine strips of walnut which define
the curve. The intervening panels are slices of an oak and walnut assembly
which are so thin, light easily passes through.
I attempted to make eleven pieces of this style,
being successful with ten. As far as I know, nine are still in circulation
with one being accidently demolished at a wedding reception.
Below is the same lamp with the lights out.
I'm finished here.
