Box 5506 Newtown, CT 06470-5506 ISBN 1-56158-498-3 Price Softcover: $19.95 176 color pages When I was given the chance to review Home Storage Projects, I thought I would finally come across a way to straighten up the house. The 172 page, soft back book contains information to build storage projects for the rooms that tend to clutter the most. Projects include a modular compact disc cabinet, audiocassette cabinet, desktop organizer, printer stand, file cabinet, wine cabinet, kitchen work station, bed pedestal, jewelry box, mobile closet, storage bench and medicine cabinet. The book begins with a chapter on basic design and building. It covers fasteners, various materials, hardware, joints, and finishes. This discussion is not in-depth but rather a general overview. Each additional chapter is devoted to an individual project. A cut list along with measured views provides a guideline to the overall construction. Steps, some more detailed than others, are included to help with the process. Also included are tips for performing some of the procedures. Excellent colored pictures help with what can't be visualized. All in all, Home Storage Projects is a good book. Some of the projects caught my eye and might end up on my long list. This is due more to the lack of need for the specific piece than the specific piece itself. With some prior woodworking knowledge and an interest in the projects, one could place some very practical, as well as pretty pieces, in their home.
