Inc. 387 Park Avenue South New York, NY 10016-8810 ISBN 0-8069-6115-5 Price Softcover: $17.95 160 color pages After reading this book I am glad that I did not try re-tiling my shower a few years ago. I would have committed several goofs that would have resulted in a less than adequate tile job. This is one of the best written books I have come across in years. The scope of the book prepares you to do the job yourself or be knowlegeable enough to ask the right questions of a contractor. Anyone thinking about tile in their current home or a new one should read this book before going beyond the planning stage. The different type of tiles and their uses in different applications are very useful to someone planning a tile installation. Tools and Materials, Substrates, Expansion Joints, Moisture Barriers and how to set the tiles are covered in great detail. If you plan to lay tile on a wood substrate, such as a coffee table be sure to read this book. Choosing the right substrate and adhesive for the application is critical. There are sections that deal with Floor, Walls, Mosaic Tiles, and Outdoor installation and the problems that can be encountered. The information is geared toward home installations and covers how to set up patterns for your floors, walls and countertops. The section describing how to handle a tile installation around a toilet was very enlightening. Mr. Lipinski even includes a troubleshooting section that will help you take care of your existing tile. I give this book a big "Thumbs Up", it is a must read for anyone planning to do or have any tiling done. John F.
